We popped in today for a meal for my wife’s birthday and it was a real treat. Friendly staff and really tasty food. Fast service and everything was cooked to perfection. Not just slapped on a plate. Quite expensive but you get what you pay for. Check out my photos. We had 2 light bite dinners ( one gluten free) and 2 deserts. Really good food and we were impressed by how well it was presented. Toilets were spotlessly clean with well presented bear gardens. We Would highly recommend you visit.

Lovely meal, love environment, wonderful staff. Wonderful and will definitely visitvagain. Absolutely loved the doggy menu. Our 13yr old black lab border collie cross was made to feel very welcome by all the staff and thoroughly enjoyed his roast chicken doggy meal!

If you have a dog and fancy a nice lunch we can highly recommend The Royal!!!

Had the pleasure of being in your gorgeous beer garden last weekend. A lot of thought has gone into the layout. Went a little cold outside and you managed to find us a table inside even though you were very busy. Had the Royal burger with sides of chips and onion rings which were excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back soon…….Margaret

Love this place. Haven’t been since the refurb and it’s absolutely beautiful. Lovely beer garden at the back too which I imagine will be lovely at night lit up. I stayed the night due to last minute decision to stay over and the room was perfect. In fact probably the comfiest bed I’ve ever slept in! A few of us had breakfast the next morning too and it was really really nice, recommend the eggs benny 👌. Ignore any negative reviews, they’re just too picky IMO. Definitely be back soon. Thanks very much! A*****

Just had one of the worse meals in years at The Royal at Bolton le Sands!.

The service and food were awful, and the staff attitude leaves alot to be desired.

We were a table of 9, booked for 7pm. It was 8.30 pm before we received our main course, but smaller tables all around us received their food much faster. This is not the first time we have experienced slow service when we are a larger table.

When the food came the chips with the gammon were burnt and sodden with grease, and when we complained we were told they were triple cooked! I have never seen black triple cooked chips…….the gammon was suppossed to be 10oz, more like 6oz and despite being given steak knives it was impossible to cut and the whole plates swimming in grease.

Then the pizza, black on the bottom impossible to cut and tasted burnt. Only 2 pieces were eaten and then left.

Despite the pizza being removed from the bill there was no apology for awful food.

We we complained we were met with attitude no apologises!

Its very expensive for a pub and with food and service so awful dont bother going!!

Just read your reply what utter rubbish!! Why would we take a burnt pizza home!! It was another pizza that was taken home maybe find out the facts before replying with comments that are inaccurate!!

The chips were burnt, most of the table tasted them, one sent them back they were that awful.

In terms of the starters some of us shared, that’s our option to do so! It does not then warrant an hour wait for main courses!!

If you think an hour and an half wait for a main course with starters is acceptable then you clearly are wrong

Not one of your staff apologised and no one talked about experimenting with chips ….the statement was they were triple cooked…. Maybe experiment outside of serving customers!!!

The meal was dreadful start to finish and it’s a shame as the owner you cannot acknowledge it!
