One week after our first ever canal boat trip and my wife and I are still buzzing. Sue and her team couldn’t have done any more for us and helped to make our day very special. I was nervous about taking the boat out because of the steering and especially about turning round but I needn’t have worried. John walked us down to the boat and set us at ease with his friendliness and good humour. Once aboard he patiently ran us through all the basics and then even pulled away into the canal and travelled 2 or 3 hundred yards in order to show me how to do a complete 360 turn. Without that instruction I think I would have struggled so thank you John. My wife and I will certainly be returning for a couple more day trips before maybe going further afield with overnight stops. Thanks once again to all the team and see you soon. Tony and Colleen

We hired a boat for a day trip to commemorate an 80th birthday and it was a great experience. Lovely friendly staff, very helpful, special mention to Gavin who took us through all the boat instructions and canal etiquette in a very straightforward and easy to remember way. Would recommend to anyone looking for a chilled day taking in the English countryside, we even managed to spot a kingfisher!

We were a group of 4 people and hired the Dusky Thrush with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

The boat was extremely tired looking and well in need of some deep cleaning and updating. The lounge seating needed to be deep shampoo cleaned, the grease around the stove was extremely off putting. The roof hatch above the kitchen leaked when it rained. When we asked about this we were told “all the hatches on these canal boats leak”.

The so called water filter was not giving us clean tasting water and we had to buy bottled water for the entire 2 weeks. When we asked about this we were told ” it’s probably due to where it was last filled up in Wales”!

There had been a long haired dog on board with the last people and we were constantly finding dog hair throughout the boat.

We were told to be careful using the fry pan as food stuck to it.

It was actually impossible to use and we had to purchase another fry pan ourselves (which they did reimburse of for)

Considering we paid over $6000.00 aussie dollars for this boat we were expecting a truly beautiful vessel with a lot more luxury.

The canal holiday was great but it would of been a lot better if we had got value for money instead of being charged a fortune for a boat that was extremely old and tired and in need of upgrade.

Canal trip was in May 2024

Great receptionist guided us through our trip we were taking, really helpful, lads in the yard were also very helpful, made sure all of the boats usages were clearly understood by us, safety being the utmost. Really made the week on the canal well worth taking.
