I received a voucher for my 70th and my wife Jean & I used it on yesterdays Sunday lunch canal cruise(cost £90). This was our first time on a barge, we were given a friendly welcome as we boarded by ‘Captain Steve’ & then by Sarah (owners daughter) who served us with a drink & showed us to our table for 2 😊

The route was explained by Captain Steve & we set sail. It was interesting to hear the history of the canals & how they came to be & to appreciate what a marvellous Nationwide engineering achievement the canal system is.

We were surprised at the number of apartment buildings along the canals & could only wonder at the cost of living in some 🤔🤫Going through the lock at ‘Pomono’ was interesting to experience and to watch fellow Captains John & Steve navigate the barge through it. Finally arriving at the Media City area and to be able to appreciate it all from the middle of the waterway was really quite impressive.

IMPORTANT BIT – THE LUNCH 😊while our barge journey was unfolding our 3 course Sunday roast lunch was being served – Soup, roll & butter – then a FULL roast beef meal with all the trimming – it was plentiful & DELISHOUS (particularly the beef & some of best roast potatoes ever ! ) & all served so hot too🤗 – this was followed by desert & then tea or coffee👏.

Big shout out to the Owner/Chef Eamon & not forgetting his daughter Sarah, for keeping everyone VERY well fed while also running the bar too 👍👌in fact must say that all 4 crew members make up a great team.

PS – Local car parking can be costly = nearby YMCA is OK at £10 for 4 hours – also think the Tram to Deansgate-Castlefield might be a good option too.

Absolutely brilliant night, the staff were great, very friendly. The drinks are very reasonable, we had the best night for my sisters 40th, highly recommended for anyone organising a private party 😊

Fantastic Christmas Boat Party – Highly Recommended!

We hired the boat for our team Christmas party and couldn’t have been happier with the whole experience. From the very beginning, the booking and arrangements with Sarah were excellent – everything was so easy and seamless.

On the night, Captain Steve was warm, friendly and welcoming. Our party happened to fall on the night of Storm Bram, and because of the extreme winds he explained that we wouldn’t be able to set sail for health and safety reasons. We completely understood, and honestly, it didn’t take away from the evening at all. The atmosphere was still brilliant and it was all about us being together as a team.

The bar staff were amazing – always smiling and you could tell they genuinely enjoyed seeing everyone have such a good time.

The food was outstanding: a lovely buffet with a great selection of hot and cold dishes, constantly refreshed to keep everything piping hot. Everyone commented on how delicious it was.

The DJ kept the energy high with fantastic tunes, and the karaoke ended up being the highlight of the night – so much fun and plenty of laughs!

All in all, a fabulous experience from start to finish. We’ll be talking about this night for a long time. Highly recommend! 🎉🚤
