We recently stayed here for a night as we we had booked the aqueduct canoe excursion. This is slightly out of town but that’s a good thing, it’s still only a ten minute drive away. The place is fabulous, it’s oldy worldy like stepping back in time but I love that, it’s got genuine character. It was spotless, clearly well looked after.
Big comfy bed too! The staff were all super friendly and welcoming. It’s got a big car park and a lovely outside area which is ideal on a dry day because the view is spectacular. We had tea here as well and the food was amazing, proper home cooked and fresh, with plenty to choose from and big hearty portions. The Jewell in the crown has to be Anne the landlady, who is also responsible for all of that home cooked food (wish we’d had the pie as many recommend that!) Anne is everything a landlady should be, she couldn’t do enough for us but it was clear she is the same with everyone. Breakfast in the morning was also lovely, with plenty of options and all fresh. Highly recommend this place, I would definitely come back!

Having just returned from Llangollen I have to first sit down and sing the praises of Anne and her staff at the Britannia Inn on the Horseshoe Pass. The atmosphere as you walk in is friendly and welcoming making us feel at ease and relaxed. The double room is cosy and adequate to our needs. The food was always freshly cooked piping hot and very wholesome especially the home made meat pie (highly recommended) every where was clean tidy but still had that air of homely and comfy feeling. The location is just beautiful overlooking the valley and hills and access to the town with all its amenities close but no way obtrusive. Anne the owner has certainly set the bar high for us in our expectations of accommodation in the future.

Good value lunch and not as crowded as the pubs in town. Dog friendly with one lounge dedicated to our furry friends. Service and staff are great. Keep in mind they are currently not open all afternoon on a Sunday so don’t leave it too late!
