Guide To The Jack Mytton Inn

Moored our narrow boat nearby and were excited to walk here for dinner. Lovely place in a lovely setting with a great menu but very bad service. We were seated outside immediately but then totally forgotten about. When we tried to catch one of the staffs eye but they wouldn’t engage with us and definitely pretended not to see us! As we had finished our first round of drinks, I went inside to complain and place an order. The food was ok but the occasion was sadly spoilt by the terrible service.

The food was lovely and the atmosphere of the pub was one of the best we have been to. We brought our dogs and the pub was very pet friendly. My only complaints are the girls behind the bar did not have a lot of Information to tell me about thier different ciders, and seemed very annoyed that I would ask. They were very friendly to all the local people who came in but we did not feel very welcomed by them and because of this we left shortly after eating our meal.

Very mixed results here. We called in on the way along the canal the food was ok, the wait for our meal was long but we were kept informed, however on our second visit although the restaurant did not seem busy I guess they may have been short staffed, table sitting was over a half hour late and then food order took over an hour to arrive for fish and chips. Staff were absent for the most part. It’s a real shame as I think this place could be fantastic. Worth a visit but be prepared for a long wait even when booked

Enjoyed it so much we went back again. Food was good quality and reasonably priced. Staff were attentive, friendly and courteous. Special mention to Harry and Emma, who made the experience memorable, although I’m still awaiting the reenactment of Layer Cake with salmon.
