The Owl inside is great, everything works and it is fully equipped. Pity the engine wasn’t as good as it was burning oil which made me ill. I was constantly breathing oil vapour.I started with a sore throat, runny nose then a chesty cough which kept me awake feeling terrible. Phoned the office who came out to look at it, he changed the air filter but it was still the same. Told to call canal rescue . This took 10 hours waiting around for them to arrive. He diagnosed the oil issue due to the age of the engine. Decided not to travel any further and just make our way back in small journeys so as not to make myself any worse. Had 3 days wasted and 3 days being ill. Contacted them still waiting for a reply. Other than this it was great and would recommend a canal holiday.

Highly recommend for a great relaxing holiday. Company is excellent, great advice and our barge was fantastic. If you want to hire a barge without lots and lots of locks, then head for Llangollen. Stunning just stunning

The whole process reservation, arrival and drop off could not have been easier. The whole team at Whixall Marina are see accommodating. Genuine service with a smile.

The narrowboat itself was well maintained, clean and very straightforward to ensure our break was hassle free.

As for the Llangollen canal. Simply breathtaking with something for all.

Excellent choice for boat hire on the Llangollen Canal. Boats were comfortable and well-made. Really easy to manoeuvre and responsive. The location of the marina at Whixall works well in order to get to Llangollen and return in a week’s holiday. Highly recommend.
