Guide To The Ducks Ditty

Located along the scenic Grand Western Canal in Tiverton, Ducks Ditty Bar offers a unique dining and drinking experience from its permanent mooring at The Wharf, Canal Hill. This charming floating café-bar is renowned among locals for having "the best beer garden in Devon," providing a peaceful canalside setting where visitors can relax and watch narrowboats glide by.

The fully licensed establishment serves a delightful selection of real ales, cold lagers, and ciders on draught, alongside barista-made coffee. Guests can also enjoy delicious award-winning pasties from Chunk of Devon and Marshfield scoop ice cream.

As of April 2025, Ducks Ditty Bar has changed ownership and is now operated by the same family that runs the Canal Tea Rooms in the Tiverton Basin. This ensures that this beloved local gem continues to welcome visitors who wish to experience the enchanting atmosphere of dining afloat on Devon’s historic canal.

Hi, we went this Sunday 1st June, a surprise birthday trip from my husband. All I can say that everything was fantastic from start to finish. This is a family run business, and they are all great. The barge is so wonderfully decorated and the horse was beautiful and well tended obviously. We went on the Serenity tour which was fantastic if you want peace and tranquility. I would recommend to anyone. Sue

I lived in Tiverton for 15 years. I’ve fished, cycled, walked and spent hours up there in all weathers and hours of the day.

Today was the first time I have been on the barge trip and even after all those years and time spent up the canal, just today on the barge was like squeezing all the years into the most beautiful, in fact magical trip.

I did it for myself today, and also my grandad who has recently passed away but due to his health over the years never got the opportunity to go on the trip. We did it grandad, and my god wasn’t it wonderful.

All of this would not of been possible if it wasn’t for phill and the family, George and birthday boy hogan. I hope this experience and the work you do continues into the future, as it’s something that should never be lost in time.

Thank you all, See you all again.

10/10 all round, 100% recommend.

Lovely first visit today to the horse drawn barge. Well organised and relaxing and nice to support a family run business who clearly love what they do and appreciate their customers. We will definitely be back when we can.

We enjoyed the Serenity Sunday trip last weekend.

It was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. Phil and Jacqui are perfect hosts, the sun shone, the ducks entertained, quite a magical experience.

If you need to unwind, this is the perfect place to do it.
