Fantastic afternoon on the boat very informative commentary along the canal I’ve learned alot about the history of the canal and boatyard. As a bonus i can also now operate a lock. Sat at home now enjoying a lovely Dancing Duck Beer.

Fascinating place, full of history. Very friendly people, particularly the woman who runs the forge (unfortunately I didn’t get her name) who took the time to tell us all about the place and show us round the forge. There’s a small, free (donations appreciated) exhibition with information about the site and canal life in general, which is well worth looking round. For boaters there’s a chandlery and a working boatyard. For the casual visitor / tourist, it’s an interesting glimpse into canal life, past and present. Highly recommended.

I contacted the forge a few months ago with an idea for my cosplay project. I wanted to see if it was possible to add cosmetic steel caps with rivet studs to the toes of my boots. I spoke with Ems on the phone and she was keen as mustard to do the job, and after a short while, she produced exactly what I was looking for. Exceptional work. The picture below is of the boots as they are today (14/8/24) and the rust is intentional! I’ve already referred friends to the yard for custom metalwork projects.

What a fab find!!

A 45 minute canal boat ride with personalised commentary and skilful navigation! We were even provided duck food to feed the ducks along the canal. Has definitely whetted our appetite for more Canal Boat journeys!

Suitable for all ages, kiddies would love it!
