Guide To Blossom Narrowboat Hire

We recently spent a fantastic holiday aboard Blossom for our honeymoon, hired from Kim and Gary’s lovely family-run narrowboat company, and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

Although our trip started with a bit of unexpected drama — a storm had brought down several trees along the canal, meaning we couldn’t travel for four days — Kim and Gary went above and beyond to help us through the situation. They kept us updated constantly, did everything they possibly could to get us moving again, and were so kind and accommodating throughout. It was clear they truly care about their guests and their beautiful boat.

And what a boat! Blossom is absolutely stunning — immaculately clean, beautifully decorated, and equipped with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable and relaxing holiday. It really felt like a floating home away from home.

Once the canal reopened, we explored some breathtaking scenery and enjoyed the peace and beauty of the waterway. We cruised to Lancaster, which happened to have a music festival on — such a brilliant atmosphere! Lancaster itself is full of history and charm, and we highly recommend stopping at The Water Witch, a canal-side pub serving excellent food with a fantastic view.

We also visited The Flower Bowl entertainment centre, where we had a great time at the cinema and even did some bowling — the perfect mix of fun and relaxation.

Despite the unexpected storm delay, this trip was everything we hoped for and more. Kim and Gary’s care, the comfort of Blossom, and the beauty of the Lancaster Canal made it an unforgettable experience. We can’t wait to return and do it all again — hopefully under slightly calmer weather next time!

Excellent hire! Highly recommend. Kim and her family were a joy to meet (Dad even picked us up from Lancaster Sainsbury’s when our Carnforth train was cancelled!). Blossom was well equipped, good size thus easy to operate and a delight to stay in. The wee log stove was efficient at night and perfect for the ‘boating’ atmosphere. Plenty of places by the canal en route to moor and stroll about as well as pubs with food too. A brilliant week!

We had a great few days with gorgeous autumnal weather. ‘Blossom’ handles beautifully and is a cosy very well equipped boat. Lovely welcome pack for you and your 4 legged family member too! Lots of help and instruction if needed from Kim, Mark and Garry.

The Lancaster with the amazing Lune Aqueduct is a beautiful, contour canal passing through lovely countryside and no better way to enjoy it than on the lovely ‘Blossom’!

Blossom is a truly beautiful boat! We have never been on a narrow boat before, so it’s been a completely new experience for us both. From the homely touches inside to the beautiful scenery around every bend and turn… wow what an amazing first week of married life! We met Kim, Matt and her dad Garry before we went out who all made sure we were comfortable before we went off on our own. Inside the boat is beautifully done and we really felt at home from the first second we stepped foot onto Blossom. Every single thing you may need has been thought of! We saw so much wildlife – fish, swans/ducks and their babies, hedgehogs, kingfishers – even a terrapin! We will definitely be returning, I can’t remember the last time I had that much peace – if ever!! Thank you all for a wonderful stay ❤️

Amazing experience. Kim, Garry, and the whole family were so welcoming and helpful. They got us setup and running in no time and gave us a short demo to make sure we were comfortable before we went on our way. Blossom was such a joy to drive and our stay on her was sublime. We’ll definitely be back!
