We met up with some boating friends for Sunday lunch and what a lunch we had. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the lunch itself was exceptionally good. It has been a fair few years that I have had and enjoyed one so much – and the cauliflower cheese is to die for!! I had the three meats option and they were all very tender and cut just the way I like it – thin but not too thin and thankfully not honking great slabs of meat that you need a samurai sword to cut up. We travelled a long way to meet up with our friends and the lunch itself was the cherry on the top. I highly recommend The Barley Mow for Sunday lunch and will try and get there for a mid week lunch as soon as possible.

Had a fantastic Sunday roast here today while in the area on a narrowboat for the week. This is our second visit to the pub in the last 2 years and both times we’ve enjoyed the food, beer and atmosphere! Very welcoming and friendly staff.

Excellent rump steak with all the trimmings, beef dripping chips, onions ,mushrooms, peas and half a grilled tomato. £13.95 which is

excellent value and cooked to perfection. We added a peppercorn sauce for £2.95 which too was excellent and a gravy boat full so there was plenty to share.

Definitely will re visit when IR17;m the area.

Telephoned for a table at 5.00 pm on Sunday and although the kitchen was closing the pub accommodated four of us and I enjoyed a turkey roast and my colleagues fish and chips. There is a pleasant outdoor seating area. Food was delicious and the landlord was very accomodating nothing was too much trouble thoroughly recommended

Seriously people, this is the place to be if you’re in the area, or looking for a place to go specifically.

You will be literally 15ft from the canal, watching and waving to the boats going by.

The pub itself is just amazingly friendly.

The beers are good, real ciders are available and the food is amazing. The Sunday roasts especially so.

Can’t recommend it enough!

Enjoy!
