Distinctly average. Went for lunch with friends; food was ok and chips were particularly good. Drinks are on the pricey side and apart from the Hookie brews, choice was poor. This is especially true of lager with the modern belief that Spanish is better (it isn’t in my opinion) What’s wrong with Carling brewed in Burton or Carlsberg brewed in Northampton?

This was a lovely place to find somewhere to eat and drink

We were celebrating my husbands 70 birthday 🎂 and the staff pulled out the stops and brought his pudding out with a sparkler candle and sang happy birthday

Making his day even more special.

Thank you so much.

Lovely location

Stopped here whilst canal boating, the steak was one of the best meals I have had in years! Pickled onion onion rings were immense as was the blue cheese sauce and sirloin was perfect.

(Katsu curry chips well worth a try, i have been making my own at home ever since).

Strong recommend!

I visited the Great Western this lunch time with my parents and son , the service was polite and friendly in a very picturesque setting. The food was excellent with healthy portions with a touch of flare.

I highly recommend a visit, I left the Grate Western full but not bloated and will be back for a meal in the not too distant future.

We came here on two occasions whilst cruising along the canal, once for lunch and another for dinner. The service and quality of food was really impressive. The fried chicken burger and beef wagyu burger were incredible. Plus, I’m not sure I’ll ever find any triple cooked chips that would come close to the ones I tried here. You definitely need to pay a visit if passing by the area.
