Stayed for a month in Ely Cathedral’s sister marina based at Hermitage – would not recommend!
Terrible facilities: very dirty, poorly maintained, one dirty toilet cubicle shared between whole site, both shower and laundry coin operated. Electricity for my row of boats constantly tripping.
Poor communication from owner/staff: cancelled my engine service last minute after I chased for completion date (it had been booked in for a month and needed to be completed before my first proper cruise), was warned I would be charged if I bought another workman onto their marina site to get it serviced, bare minimum work when they did do anything.
Lots of onsite building work using large machinery being completed late into the evening. Site is more of a work yard than the marina they advertise. Was told via a fellow liveaboard that the owner had complained to him about me putting dog poo bags in the only main bin, couldn’t bring himself to tell me directly…? Other boaters on site were lovely and super friendly but I’d say that’s the only positive.

I was traveling by train to Ely and recorded a short video on the way.such a beautiful city. The view from the train was amazing with so many boats and water all around. It looked peaceful and full of nature. Definitely a place worth visiting

A great place to moor with easy access to Ely and all it has to offer. Plenty of things to do in Ely for non boating family members and friends. The marina is a great base for exploring the waterways or simply staying in your boat as your own private b&b and the staff can do most boating repairs and maintenance, a great place for my old wilderness beaver 23.

We parked in a free parking area within a two minute walk from Cathedral Marina. It was a lovely picturesque walk by the water, watching the boats go by. There were benches to sit on and large grass areas. It was only a very short walk to the cathedral and town centre. There were ducks, pigeons, and swans by the water.
