What a cool place, middle of nowhere, very chill & very peaceful. Pub is great, Wendy could not be more friendly & helpful

Pub is closed on a Monday so didn’t get to try the ale or food. I was told by another boater the moorings were £6 a night which I though was reasonable only to find they are £15 a night. This would be reasonable if electricity was included but it’s not. So a bit pricey for me. Had the grass strimmed while I was moored up so took me ten minutes to clean all the grass and slug guts off the side of my boat. Luckily there was a 24 hour free mooring available on the way back which I used. Lady incharge of the pub and moorings etc was very friendly and the pub looked well kept.

Keep to the bouyed channel travelling upstream. Heavy lock but workable. Good visitor, rise and fall jetty. Good welcome in the licensed cafe with great range of home cooked food. Well worth an overnight.

Stayed here for 5 nights in August, looking at most of the positive reviews on here, they mainly refer to the pub and pub meals on a Sunday. I suppose the site is great if you’re only using the pub, which isn’t dog friendly, or day fishing, kayaking paddleboarding etc.

The fishing, kayaking and walks around the site are great, but the site itself is a disgrace. There are some decent pitches, but ours was small and uneven with the awning encroaching, almost, onto the road. The bins were overflowing from the Tuesday until the Thursday when we left. They are situated next to the showers, toilets, washing up area and some sort of barbecuing area, where there was a bbq left near to the rubbish.

Why the bins can’t be placed along the fence leading up to the ‘amenities’ area and away from them, I’m not sure. The showers, toilets and particularly the sink to wash up in were a disgrace. There was only 2 male showers and 2 female, one of the male showers was out of order for the entirety of our stay, and were afforded the’ privilege’ of not having to pay the 50p.

I couldn’t get any hot water from the tap in the only male toilet, which was blocked all day Monday, God knows where everyone went. I rang the number, and tried to contact them via the pub, but couldn’t contact them.

I go to lots of different sites over the spring – autumn period, some sites are more basic than others, this was different. I spoke to other campers there, some assured me they returned week after week, others felt the same as me. This is justy my perception and review 🤷

We’ve just left this absolute gem of a campsite after a four night stay. We loved it that much we’ve already booked for next year. The site has everything you need. If you’re after flashy this is not the place for you. It’s what we like to call….. proper camping. The toilet blocks are clean, tidy and have everything you need as does the small washing up area. Make sure to take some 50p’s for the showers, the water pressure was great and they were nice and warm. The pitches are a nice size also with absolutely stunning views. Now for the crowning glory……..Wendy!!!!! Nothing is too much for this lady when it comes to her customers. Despite there been no electricity due to a lightning storm she still made us a meal fit for a king and her Sunday dinner was one of the best I’ve ever had. I’d advise booking because it gets very busy. She truly is the hostess with the mostess. We can’t wait to go back!!!!
