It has a rich history that dates back to the mid-1700s when it originally served as a farm for the Tollemache family, the Earls of Dysart, whose coat of arms still adorns the door. The Dysart Arms has evolved over the years, having historically served as a pub, farm, and abattoir in the nineteenth century. Remarkably, the exterior has changed very little since the 1950s, as shown in historical photographs. The culinary offerings include expertly prepared pub classics such as ribeye steak, pan-fried halibut, and Sunday roasts, which have earned the establishment recognition as the third-best restaurant in Tarporley.

The food was so good that we came here twice in one week. Staff is very kind, atmosphere is cozy and the food tastes like it’s been cooked with love. We can highly recommend this pub.

Christmas dinner 2025 – It started with a booking request later in the year & as expected, we were added to the reserves list. This place is so popular, special occasions are over subscribed.
Then unexpectedly, we received an email from James, letting us know we were in. All subsequent communication with him was friendly & informative.
We got to say hello at the bar on Christmas Day before being seated.Drinks arrived promptly & our starters soon followed. Everyone in our party of four had pre-ordered something different. All were delicious. After a short break, our mains were served. The traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings was better than we expected. My niece had the Beef Wellington… It looked as good as she said it was.
Pudding didn’t disappoint either & we were offered hot drinks with a homemade mince pie.There really wasn’t anything negative about our Christmas dinner experience at The Dysart Arms. The email conversations, the warm welcome, amazing food & attentive staff made the day for all of us.

Absolutely delightful country pub in the Cheshire countryside. We enjoyed a Sunday roast outside in the sunshine and trialled some delicious new beers as part of the beer & cider festival. Dog friendly outside and in the snug part of the pub. Swings and a tractor for children to play on. An idyllic setting, great food & friendly staff….we’ll be back again soon!
There are some lovely roadside pubs in this area, we’d walked the canal from Hurleston locks and I had found this pub on google so despite the other local pubs looking very inviting, we stuck with our original choice and were so glad we did.
This pub has one of the nicest beer gardens we’ve ever sat in. The trees and flowers are beautiful, tables are well spaced and on one side overlook the beautiful village church. It was peaceful, calm and just so serene even on a busy Sunday.
We hadn’t booked but this wasn’t a problem – a pleasant surprise nowadays. The staff were professional, attentive and welcoming.
The food was fabulous, we both had the Sunday roast, everything was cooked well and portions were generous and served hot – another pleasant surprise nowadays. The Yorkshire puddings had a really nostalgic homemade taste, not like the giant burnt crisps most pubs seem to serve.
I wish we lived closer, we would be regulars here!
They had a varied beer selection on tap, some really delectable looking desserts we sadly didn’t have room for and the pub itself is gorgeous.
I can’t wait to go back on another sunny afternoon, really can’t rate the beer garden highly enough, it was just so relaxing and picturesque.
