This is our third visit, when travelling around on our boat. You can moor very close by if you are on the Grand Union Canal, or you can walk down from the Lapworth link/Kingswood junction. Well worth a visit. Nice pub, great location. Food was tasty and you got good portions for the price

A nice pub in a lovely location. Friendly staff and a great drinks selection.
The food, however, was wholly unremarkable, so I can’t give five stars. It was expensive yet bland. I had a burger with salad and fries for £18, which was incredibly boring and uninspired. I know that you can’t do much to elevate a burger and chips, but there was no flair, no flavour, just stodge.

What a disappointment. We were in the area and this came up with good reviews so we made the effort to come and eat lunch here. I had a fish finger sandwich which was actually ok, a bit heavy on the batter but still ok. My wife ordered the roast pork bap with sage and onion stuffing and apple sauce, home made coleslaw and chips. When it arrived, the roast pork was totally overdone and was dry and tough. It came in a dry bap with a dry stuffing. The apple sauce was served on the side, as requested, but tasted like a cheap one out of a jar. The ‘home made’ coleslaw left a puddle of thin ‘mayonnaise’ on the plate and, again, tasted bought in and cheap. In all, it was inedible and, if food is advertised as being freshly made then it should taste like it. There was no love or skill went into the preparation of this. Shame, we had high hopes.

Found this place whilst at the nearby NT Baddesley Clinton and wanting some lunch with the family. The setting sounded nice but the canal. It didn’t fail to I pressure. Very dog friendly too which was nice to see (although we hadn’t got our dogs with us at the time).
Met at the door by friendly staff and shown to table. Although the pub was fairly busy they accommodated us fine. The food was was brilliant (off the lighter bites menu)
It’s a beautiful setting and felt a nicely run pub. The gardens are lovely too. There are a number of sheds you can sit in to with dog beds. A good find. Reasonably priced too. Classy and casual interior. Suited us all just fine. Well done Tom O’ The Wood.

First impressions when entering the premises are cozy clean warming seating areas. The bar staff are welcoming however after ordering our meal it took over 30 minutes to arrive. We were given the desert menu and unfortunately after 30 minutes decided to go to the checkout to pay the bill and leave.
