Canal Pub on the Grand Union Canal

Guide To The Royal Oak

The Royal Oak, a historic establishment located at the crossroads in the heart of Blisworth village, dates back to approximately 1675, making it a cornerstone of local heritage for nearly 350 years.

Originally named “The Plough” in 1774, it adopted its current name in 1831. This characterful pub retained its traditional thatched roof until a dramatic fire in 1959 prompted modern renovations.

Went to the pub on Sunday lunchtime after a morning walk with friends . Was greeted with a friendly smile from bar staff and ordered 2 pints of cider and a pint of Guinness. The Guinness was very good and brought out to me in the garden by the lovely bar staff. While we were there, freshly made rolls came out on the bar, and we had cheese and onion, beef pastrami . They were very tasty and washed down with good beer and sunshine.
