Located on High Street, this picturesque pub was once threatened with closure but was saved in 2016 by a dedicated consortium called Lanvar Ltd. This group, consisting of 34 residents, invested their time and money to preserve this vital community asset.
Today, the Royal Oak thrives as the heart of Church Eaton, serving as a vibrant hub for local committees, sports teams, and social gatherings. The pub takes great pride in its charitable efforts, raising thousands of pounds each year through various initiatives, including the well-known ‘Oakfest’ music weekend, which supports local charities.
Situated about a mile northeast of the Shropshire Union Canal at High Onn Bridge, The Royal Oak provides a welcoming stop for visitors arriving on foot, by bicycle, or via narrowboat. With its inviting interior, friendly staff, and a selection of traditionally brewed beers—thanks to its freehouse status—The Royal Oak embodies the spirit of rural Staffordshire hospitality and showcases the strength of community determination.
Fab food, (particularly the burgers), with a great selection of ales and a funky raspberry ripple cider.
Popped in on a Saturday afternoon with a party of 9 with kids and despite reduced kitchen staff they served us promptly, shuffling tables to accomodate us.
Great place to stop and with a playground not too far. A great bonus on a canal boat trip.
Popped in yesterday for a pint pool and darts and what a beautiful pub it is feels so homely and warm.
Pool table was possibly the best I have played on as well as the cues that were not bent like most places.
The lady on the bar was lovely and everyone in there seemed the same.

We celebrated the new year at the Oak with my wife and, mother in law and friends and it was a fabulous night. They are great hosts and staff are excellent. It’s definitely my go to pub, keep up the good work 👏
A pub with passion! There is something for everyone on the menu and even a kids salad! A+ on the food, service and even the restrooms. Adam and Karly have done a fantastic job and I’m only disappointed that we haven’t visited sooner. But Shhh don’t tell everyone about this little Gem 😉
First time today at this gorgeous little pub with lovely owners, food was fab and drinks were equally as nice. Nothing was too much trouble for them and will most definitely return.
